Course Description/Objectives:
Math II is a high school mathematics course designed for students who have successfully acquired and mastered, basic Algebra and Geometry skills of Math 1. In this course, we will discuss linear and quadratic equations and their graphs, functions, polynomials, rational expressions, and basic probability. We will also discuss the topics of exponential and logarithmic functions, geometry, and basic trigonometric functions. Appropriate technology will be used on a daily basis for instruction and assessment.
Supplies: Paper, pen pencils 3-ring binder, graphing calculator (TI-83 or TI-84 recommended)
Grading Policy:
*Informal Assessments (warm-ups, homework, class work, short quizzes, etc.) - 30% *Formal Assessments (tests, major quizzes, projects, performance tasks, etc.) - 70% *Midterm Exam - 20% of quarter grade *Final Exam - 20% of semester grade
Retests: Students have two weeks from the date the test is returned to retake a test. Test corrections and re-teaching packet must be completed in order to retake a test.
Make-up Work: Make-up work is your responsibility! You have 5 days to turn in make-up work for full credit. Check the make-up work folders if you are absent. Also, make sure you get someone’s notes from any sections that you miss.
Late Work: You may turn in late assignments up to 5 days after the due date for up to 60%.

Teacher Expectations: I expect students to have a positive attitude, to have the needed materials, to complete assignments, to show a willingness to learn, to ask questions, to seek additional help from the teacher when needed, to exhibit proper classroom behavior, and to follow the rules and regulations as listed in the Students Right and Responsibilities Handbook.
Classroom Behavior Expectations:
1) Follow all teacher instructions.
2) Be in your seat and prepared when the tardy bell rings.
3) Respect others and their property.
4) No usage of cell phones, ipods, MP3, CD players, etc.
5) Obey all school rules.
Tutoring: After school tutoring will be available on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 2:30 to 3:30. Morning tutoring is also available upon request. A detailed schedule will be posted on the door with teacher and location given.
